Rising Bread and Taking a Break
We know food cooks for long after it’s removed from the heat.
When forced to take a break from BJJ we often feel we’re going in reverse, getting worse. But like food off the burner we continue to cook.
On the other hand, cooking too long before an intentional break can burn us out like burning our food. Luckily most of these breaks will just happen for us, but sometimes we need to make a conscious choice to rest up, heal, step back and allow the break. Allow ourselves to rise, undisturbed by further stimulation that can crowd out our distillation of game.
Removing our bread from the oven doesn’t cause it to stop or reverse it’s course, it instead allows us to rise. Our pulsing between action and rest is our sweet spot strategy for progress, and longevity. The danger is burning the bread or letting the bread go stale.
